At Sumkoka, we use bagasse, a natural byproduct of sugarcane, as our primary raw material. Bagasse is an abundant and renewable resource that is left behind after extracting juice from sugarcane. By utilizing bagasse, we prevent waste and reduce our reliance on non-renewable resources.
Cleaning and Processing
Once the bagasse is collected, it undergoes a thorough cleaning process to remove any impurities. The cleaned bagasse is then finely chopped and transformed into a pulp-like consistency.
Plate Molding
The pulp mixture is poured into molds or pressed using specialized machinery to give the desired shape of the sugarcane plates. The molds can be designed in various sizes and shapes to produce different types of plates, such as round, square, or rectangular.
Drying
After molding, the plates are transferred to a drying area where they are exposed to heat or air drying methods. This helps to remove moisture from the plates and strengthen them further.
Trimming and Finishing
Once the plates are dried, they are trimmed to remove any excess edges or imperfections. This step ensures uniformity and aesthetic appeal. The finished plates may also undergo additional processes like polishing or surface treatment to improve their quality and appearance.
Quality Control and Packaging
The final step involves quality control checks to ensure that the plates meet the required standards. Defective or substandard plates are discarded. The approved plates are then packaged for distribution and shipment to various markets or customers. The packaging is often labeled with relevant information about the product, such as the size and quantity of bagasse food containers contained within.
